Welcome to the web pages of the Bahá’í community of Newham. The Bahá’í Faith is an independent world religion, with some six million followers world-wide. You will find in these pages a brief introduction to the Bahá'í Faith and links to other interesting Bahá’í sites.

A Brief Introduction (all links to sites outside this one)

Bahá’u’lláh (1817-1892) was the prophet-founder of the Bahá’í religion. ‘Bahá'u'lláh’ means "Glory of God", ‘Bahá'í’ means "follower of Bahá" – or Glory.
The Bahá’í faith teaches the unity of the major religions, that there is one God who ‘renews’ His message as humanity passes through different epochs.
The central spiritual teachings of the major religions – for example, love your neighbour as you would yourself – remain constant.
What changes are ‘social’ teachings that address the changing conditions of humanity.

Some Principles of the Bahá’í Faith

A world commonwealth of nations to adequately govern a global society
The responsibility of each person to independently search for truth
That women and men should be accorded equality of opportunity
That science and religion are in accord with each other
That modern economic problems require a spiritual solution
Universal education to be attained.
